Now if you obey me, and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. Exodus 19:5-6
We know as Christians that we are bound by faith and not the law. Yet we know that the Ten Commandments and God’s law still hold an important place in our hearts, even if we’ve never stopped to contemplate this heavenly promise-the promise that those who obey God and keep the covenant of the Ten Commandments are “treasured possessions.”
The Lord has made other promises to us concerning the law. Psalms 19:7 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” If your soul is starting to flag and grow weary, if you are starting to feel overwhelmed and confused by the world, turn to the Lord’s ten simple laws, the commandments He put forth to His people on Mount Sinai all those centuries ago.
