Jesus laid His hands upon the sick and they were healed (Luke 4:40). The Apostles laid their hands on people to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:17) and anointed people with oil for healing (Mark 6:13).
The anointing presence of the Holy Spirit is a tangible thing. You can touch it. You can feel it. You can pass it on.
This tangible attribute of the Holy Spirit’s anointing is what allowed for Peter’s shadow to fall upon the sick and they recovered (Acts 5:15-16) and for handkerchiefs to be carried from Paul’s body to the sick, and diseases left (Acts 19:11-12).
It is what caused a woman who had hemorrhaged for 12 years-as she reached out and touched the fringe of Jesus’ cloak-to receive the miracle-working power of God.
Jesus felt the anointing flow out from Him. In that instant, despite the past failure of every treatment, diagnosis and doctor who tried to apply fleshly cures, the woman was healed.
How? Because she believed-and received the tangible transfer of His powerful anointing to meet her at the point of her deepest need. Believe in Him and your need will be met.
